Jonathan is a third-year student at the University of Tennessee College of Law in Knoxville, Tennessee. He attended the University of Alabama for and received a bachelors degree in Political Science in 2004. After graduation he worked as a clerk with Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell, and Berkowitz in Memphis, TN before enrolling at Tennessee in the fall of 2005. He will graduate from Tennessee in May 2008.
While at Tennessee, Jonathan has worked with the Advocacy Center speaker series, the American Association of Justice Trial Team, and as a Graduate Research Assistant for Dr. Otis H. Stephens, Professor of Law. He is also a member of TRANSACTIONS: THE TENNESSEE JOURNAL OF BUSINESS LAW and was recently selected to join the Robert F. Wagner National Labor & Employment Law Moot Court Team which will compete in New York City in March. Jonathan has also worked with John Day (of Day & Blair) to edit the recently published Day on Torts: A Handbook for Tennessee Tort Lawyers 2008, and clerked with the Federal Express World Headquarters Litigation Department in Memphis Tennessee. Additionally, Jonathan worked at the law offices of Joel S. Sogol & Andrew A. Smith while in college at Alabama.
After graduation, Jonathan is seeking employment in the Southeastern United States in the fields of Workers’ Compensation, Medical Malpractice, Personal Injury, Premises Liability, Products Liability, Employment Discrimination (including Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA), Labor & Employment, Insurance, Professional Malpractice and General Civil Litigation. In preparation for practicing as a trial attorney he has focused his academic work at Tennessee in the "Trial Advocacy" concentration. This program includes courses in Trial Practice, Advanced Trial Practice, Interviewing & Counseling, Negotiation & Dispute Resolution, Pre-trial Litigation and Evidence. Additionally Jonathan has taken courses in Employment Law, Employment Discrimination, Law & Medicine, Workers' Compensation, Disability Law and Legislation. In addition to taking the Tennessee Bar in the Summer of 2008, Jonathan plans to apply to the Georgia, Mississippi or Alabama Bar - depending upon where he is going to live after graduation.
