"We Are The Pretty People..."

It did not take long for everyone in the blawgosphere to figure out that I Love New York 2’s “Pretty”(known around here as Juan McCullum) is a student at our beloved Mississippi College. Shortly thereafter, Above the Lawsuggested that Pretty may not be the fairest of us all. Former Miss Hawaiian Tropic, Mrs. Katie Rader Lusk (that’s right, gentlemen, she is taken) is a 3L, also here at One Of The Best-Kept Secrets of the South.”

Student Tasered at John Kerry Speech

The video below shows a student at the University of Florida who apparently asked "one to many questions" to John Kerry during a speech. Police decide to arrest him and take it a bit too far, in my opinion. What do you think?

Disturbing News & One State's Legislative Response

Did anyone else see this post last week over at Concurring Opinions reporting that often, when a patient goes into surgery, medical students are given the opportunity to practice medical procedures while those individuals are under anesthesia?  That may not sound too bad, but think about this: when a woman has gynecological surgery, she may have several pelvic exams performed by rotating medical students, while she is "out."  Consider this, guys, when a man has prostate surgery, it is not uncommon for him to get one or more rectal exams for educational purposes.  No consent required.  Interestingly, medical professionals have admitted that they are not asking patients before performing such procedures, because the patient might say "no."  Virginia and California have just passed legislation requiring specific consent.

Thoughts?

Speaking of sedated patients, check this out regarding a dentist’s practical joke on a sedated patient that turned into a lawsuit.

The Rank Business of Legal Career Ranking

I am truly ecstatic to be a contributor for one of the best (if not THE best) of the student legal blogs available! And no, U.S. News and World Report does not rank legal blogs so don’t bother checking. Since ranking has become one of the American law student’s painful obsessions, I think that this issue merits attention in my inaugural post.

Its June, and that can only mean 2 things...

First, Law School is out and we are all working "real jobs" for the summer. That explains our absence, while hardly excusing it.

Second, and more importantly, the U.S. Supreme Court will be releasing a number of high profile decisions.

Everyone keep your eyes peeled for the "Bong Hits for Jesus" decision, which should come down in the next week.

The Ford Trial Journal v.3

Here is an article from The Commercial Appeal that details Team Ford's cross-examination of an FBI Agent posing as a corrupt businesman. The Agent claimed that Ford told him he was concerned about being set-up by "the feds" and that Ford said he'd shoot the person who was behind this.

Team Ford did a good job difusing that testimony by bringing out some serious inconsistincies.
